My Story

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way…things I had no words for.

Jennifer Allara was born and raised in Oregon. In her 20’s she joined the Air Force as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (EOD) and left the Pacific Northwest to see the world. After, 20 years, 2 wars, 1 child, and traveling the world, Jennifer retired from the Air Force and found peace in the woods and oceans of Maine…although she will always remain a hippy from Oregon at heart!

Hello all! This is Jennifer Allara and I am the artist behind Tatnic Woods Pottery. A couple years ago, I signed up for an intro to pottery class and I was hooked. Shortly after, I bought a pottery wheel and started playing in the mud. Last year my husband, dog, cat, and I moved to Maine and as of January 2020 we moved into our home in the Tatnic Woods and built my studio in our basement. I find inspiration in the woods and the ocean of Maine, that I now call home. Pottery is more than just a hobby or a side-hustle for me. It has become my therapy and where I turn to when I need to recenter my thoughts.
